Using Bonza with DAWs

Bonza can be used alongside Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), but native DAW integration is not yet fully supported (as of December 2025). For now, this requires an internal audio router to complete the audio path entirely within your computer.

This setup is not recommended for lower-powered machines or systems (although we encourage you to try for yourself, as it's not an exact science yet). Running a DAW, Bonza, and an internal router at the same time can place a noticeable load on your system and may affect stability or latency.

Please also note that your DAW will require it's own processing buffer in addition to Bonza, so live performance 'through' the DAW is not recommended - it is much better to be used just for playback scenarios for now.

Because of how audio drivers work, a DAW and Bonza cannot use the same audio interface inputs or driver resources at the same time. The internal router acts as a bridge, allowing audio from your DAW to be passed into Bonza without driver conflicts.

Recommended routing tools

These tools create virtual audio devices that Bonza can receive audio from, as if it were coming from a physical input. For help on this, please see our Knowledge Base article on Aggregate Devices.

Useful notes

  • REAPER's 'ReaRouter' ASIO Bridge negates the need for a third-party internal router such as SAR.
  • If you know any more solutions for different DAWs, please let us know! The development team are looking into how best we can integrate Bonza with as many audio softwares as possible, idea contributions are always welcomed, read and appreciated at the support email below.
